Pink Anemones
watercolor on paper
16″ x 20″
(17″ X 21″ framed)

Anemones are among my favorite flowers. They’re a rare find in a garden, and only appear in expensive florist bouquets, definitely not at the supermarket floral stand. Delicate and vulnerable, they bloom for just a short time in the spring, before the hot breath of summer chases them away. The translucency of watercolor was perfect for capturing the fragile and graceful blooms,  the crisp, fresh air of springtime illuminating their thin petals.
